Hailing form the north, Alex was born into the house of Maclaren, with the sigil of a Tenor Recorder. The Maclaren words being “A quarto decimo venit Arsinoes Locridis”, or, for us mere mortals, “A Locrian 14th is coming”. The toils of living in such a moist land as Scotland has made him well equipped for singing as his throat is constantly lubricated which allows his countertenor voice to soar as high as his favourite bird, the kiwi. However, make no mistake, his tenor voice also reaches dizzying heights, much to the surprise of others. Alex having been Musical Director last year, now finds himself in the extraordinary position of knowing none of the parts in our arrangements, despite teaching them to us. He now sings a “tune” which is just a hodge podge of the important bits in each and every part.
